What is YuJa Video?

The YuJa Video Platform is a new video platform located inside of the Canvas LMS. The YuJa Video Platform allows both teachers and students to create, edit, and share video content in their courses. Within Canvas, you will see this platform labeled YuJa Video.

Accessing the YuJa Video Platform

There are two ways to access the YuJa Video platform: from the Course Navigation Menu and from the Rich Content Editor (RCE).

From within your course, click on YuJa Video from the navigation menu on the left-hand side of your course. This will open the YuJa Video Platform. From here, you can create and edit video content.

Anytime you have access to the RCE, you can access the YuJa Video platform by clicking on the App Icon from the editor (looks like an electrical plug) and then choosing YuJa Media from the list of apps.

Record a Video

Recording a video is a simple process in YuJa. How you access the Web-based recorder will depend on how you open YuJa.

Recording from Course Navigation Menu

If you clicked on YuJa Video from the course navigation list, then you will simply click on Create Media at the top of your YuJa Video Platform application once the application opens in Canvas.

Next, Choose Record with Browser Capture Studio from the menu and give the recording a title that matches the assignment you are recording it for. This will allow you to find it later when it is time to share the video.

Recording from the Rich Content Editor

If you entered YuJa Media from the RCE, simply select Create Recording from the top of the Yuja Media popup box. Next, click Create Recording. Now, choose Record with Browser Capture Studio from the menu, give the recording a title, and click Launch Recorder. See using the Browser Capture Studio below for recording instructions.

Using the Browser Capture Studio

Once you have launched the studio, a new tab will open with the Browser Studio Tool in the new tab.

To record, follow the steps below.

Step 1: Choose your Recording Options

From the Browser Capture Options box to the left, what you want to record–your source. This can be your video camera, the computer screen, or both. Next, make sure you have selected the correct microphone. When it is working, you will see the bar move on the microphone display at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Click Start Recording

At the bottom of the Browser Capture Box, select the Start Recording button.

Step 3: Begin Recording your video

Step 4: Click the red square (record) button at the bottom of the video recording to stop recording.

Step 5: Click Upload to Save your Recording

If you are satisfied with your recording, click upload. If you are not, click discard and start over again. You can watch a preview of your recording in this window before uploading.

Share a Video

To submit your video to a discussion or assignment in Canvas, you must use the YuJa Media app from the Rich COntent Editor. See the directions above for accessing the app from the RCE.

Step 1: Open the assignment or discussion.

Step 2: From the Rich Content Editor, select the YuJa Media app from the apps list.

Step 3: From the YuJa Media App, select the video you want to submit from the Choose Media area of the app and then select Insert Content.

Step 4: Submit your assignment or post your discussion reply.
